Wellness Provider Burnout Assessment: Are You at Risk of Burning Out?

Wellness practitioners are uniquely vulnerable to burnout — and uniquely reluctant to admit it. The same empathy, dedication, and service orientation that makes someone an exceptional coach, therapist, or healer also makes it difficult to recognise when they're depleted. This practitioner burnout quiz is a structured self-assessment designed to give you an honest picture of where you stand — and what to do about it.

What Does This Tool Do?

The assessment covers 20 questions across five key burnout dimensions: Workload & Boundaries, Emotional & Physical Energy, Motivation & Sense of Purpose, Your Own Self-Care Practice, and Support & Connection. Each question is rated on a 1–5 scale from Never to Always (or equivalent).

Once all 20 questions are answered, the tool generates:

  • An overall burnout risk score (0–100) displayed in a visual ring gauge with a colour-coded risk level — Low, Moderate, High, or Critical
  • A dimension-by-dimension breakdown showing exactly which areas are most depleted, so you know where to focus first
  • Personalised recovery actions — 6 targeted tips drawn from your highest-scoring (most concerning) dimensions, not generic advice

Why Wellness Practitioners Are at High Risk

The irony of burnout in the wellness industry is well-documented: people who dedicate their lives to helping others often give the least care to themselves. Compassion fatigue — the gradual erosion of empathy from sustained emotional labour — is particularly common in coaches, therapists, bodyworkers, and anyone who regularly holds space for other people's pain or growth.

Add to that the financial pressures of running an independent practice, the isolation of solo work, and the cultural expectation that a "real" wellness practitioner should always be thriving — and you have a perfect environment for burnout to develop quietly, over months, before it becomes a crisis.

Who Should Take This Assessment?

This tool is for any wellness practitioner, coach, therapist, or holistic health provider — whether you're feeling fine and want a check-in, or whether something already feels off and you want to name it. Taking five minutes to complete this assessment honestly could be the most important act of self-care you do this week.

You cannot pour from an empty vessel. Check yours.
